Over the River and Through the Woods to the White Mountains

The White Mountains stir imaginations all year round.

The mountains are home to several family friendly attractions. You can visit theme parks, tour waterfalls, river gorges and caves or get a bird’s eye view of the mountains as you ride tramways and zip lines. With its many rivers, the White Mountains offer numerous opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. In winter, the mountains are perfect for a quick getaway or an extended ski vacation. In spring, explore the countryside by hiking, biking or on horseback. In summer, take a ride on the cog railway to the summit of Mt Washington. Visit the observatory museum and marvel at views from New England’s highest peak. In autumn, stay in a bed and breakfast and drive the Kancamagus Highway as it winds its way through the White Mountain National Forest as summer green is transformed into the dazzling colors of autumn.

Accommodations range from no frills camping to luxury hotels. There is something for every craving and budget. The same is true for dining.

Between the scenic railroads, the mountain tramways, the water parks, or the caves and waterfalls, you’ll have a hard time deciding how to spend your time in the White Mountains.
